Artist in Residency Program

Riitta conducts both after school programs as well as Artist in Residency Programs in public schools. Currently she has been teaching Artist in Residency Programs in Eastchester schools (Waverly School and Greenvale as well as Ann Hutchinson school) where she introduces students from grades K-1, 3 ,5 ,3 and 4 as well as Special Education classes to selected artists, their lives and styles of painting. Students will then make their art piece based upon the artist style that is suitable for the grade level. Recently Riitta has done after school projects in the following schools: Mt. Kisco Elementary, Westorchard and Grafflin elementary schools in Chappaqua as well as Katonah Elementary.

Lifetime Arts Grant

Riitta has received a grant from Lifetime Arts to conduct a workshop called: Painting : Styles and Art of Celebrated Modern Artists. Lifetime Arts is an organization that gives grants for cultural programs for seniors in libraries throughout the country. Riitta will conduct a ten weeks long workshop at Tuckahoe Library. This workshop deals with three famous artists and their lives as well as their works and styles. The participants will paint their own piece based upon the artistís style. During the workshop, Riitta will also teach color technique, blending and composition. There will be a reception at the end of the ten weeks where students can show their works and talk about their experience during the workshop.
